I'd heard of Ruether for a bunch of reasons, including that she was in books I was reading and selling at university in the 1980s.
ETA: There are also other people in feminist theology and liberation theology whose writings may be more exciting than Ruether and GutiƩrrez. Fortunately, those movements continue! e.g., Matthew Fox, a former Catholic priest who was silenced by the Church.
