Male Belted Kingfisher (Ceryle alcyon)

Coupeville
Whidbey Island, WA
Nine photos altogether, starting here. There are snow geese, a greater yellowlegs, a harlequin duck, a marbled murrelet, a juvenile northern harrier, the kingfisher again, a juvenile Great Blue Heron, and last but not least, a male Ring-necked Pheasant.
Full set here.
I also want to say that I find the scientific name of the harlequin duck very amusing, Histrionicus histrionicus.
