CRANE CONSTRUCTIONS IN LOUISVILLE ART ASSOCIATION NATIONAL SHOW
Seattle, WA; June 20, 2007

Westlake & Thomas, an image from the Crane Constructions series, has been accepted into the Louisville Art Association's 16th Annual National/Regional Juried Photography Show. The image was selected by juror Hal Gould from almost 800 images submitted by nearly 180 entrants.

The show will be held at the Louisville Center for the Arts, June 30 through July 8, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on June 30. Louisville Center for the Arts is located in Memory Square Park, 801 Grant St., Louisville, CO.

Hal Gould founded the Colorado Photographic Art Center in 1963, one of the first venues devoted exclusively to showing and promoting fine art photography. In 1980, he opened The Camera Obscura Gallery in Denver and has built a reputation for exhibiting both contemporary and vintage masters.

CRANE CONSTRUCTIONS
The Crane Constructions looks at the construction cranes that so frequently dot our horizon. Taken from as close to the foot of the crane as possible (without trespassing), the series combines in-camera and digital composition to provide a new, close-up viewpoint and awe-inducing scale. The finished images range in size from 42"w x 46"h to 27"w x 103"h. These are not enlargements, but the size of the piece as it was composed.

I like the pictures, too.

I need to take my camera and get that photo of the cranes that look like browsing dinosaurs. Maybe today.

Very good!

Your montage technique is visually arresting. At thumbnail size the images look like unfinished paintings.

I'm always impressed by how much detail opens up, from web size to print.

And thank you!
