Freeway and Ocean

Freeway, the happiest dog in the world, is the service pet for Ocean.

Another view of Freeway and Ocean. Which do you prefer? Thanks!

I like 'em both, but I like them as a pair of photos. I also like the one of Mello and his human.

Thanks! Maybe they do work well as a pair of pictures.

Yikes. They're very different pictures. My preference depends on what other pictures are being used, and what story/message the photo(s) are intended to tell.

1) If Freeway, the happiest dog picture is also being used, I lean toward the first shot, with Freeway and Ocean touching each other.

2) If it's a one-fer intending to convey a straightforward service animal shot, I'd go for the second picture, since it shows Freeway's alertness (and those wonderful ears!). The way Ocean is looking at Freeway, and Freeway is looking at the world, illustrates the surface of the service-animal role.

3) The first photo better shows the complexity of the service animal relationship, with mutual trust and the care Ocean gives to Freeway being the predominate themes. It also looks more like a straight "pet" picture that the other one showing both of them.

That's what I see. Hope the comments help.

Well, they don't help with the basic question "which do you prefer?" but your comments are very helpful at illustrating the depth of relationships that can be shown in even fairly simple pictures. Thank you!

I concur with bibliofile. The second one is just . . .perfect.

I really like your work lately. :)

I think I prefer the first. It's a less usual posture. The expressions are good in both, but the second is more ordinary.
