Really, we did. We set the alarm for six, and turned in as soon as the local weather was done.

And the alarm went off. I asked Julie how she felt, and she said immensely tired. So I said another hour's sleep would do us better for the road than an early start.

And here we are. She's been stressed and having a hard time sleeping for weeks, so if she spends the day sleeping, I can spend the day reading. But I think she set the alarm for ten, which is in a minute or two.

Our longest visits in the past have been five days, but the fifth day always involved saying goodbye. Today it's been five days since I got to Madison, and we don't have to say goodbye. Will we feel the membrane when we pass through it, the membrane of being able to stay together longer than we have in the past?

Soon after we left Madison yesterday, "Hounds of Love" came on the tape player, and we both teared up a bit.

When I moved in with PK it didn't really hit me until I didn't go home on Sunday evening, was still there on Monday morning.

I think it'll really sink in tomorrow. Although I'm aware of it tonight, too. Yeah!

So I was drowsing and listening to the news in a distant way, and they said to expect delays of up to four hours westbound at Snoqualmie Pass for the next week or so. I'm not driving over the pass in the next week or so, I thought, and I don't think I know anybody who -- wait! Wait! Yes, I do.

This is the website you'll want to consult when you get closer to Seattle: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/passes/snoqualmie/. If you look at any of the East views, it looks like traffic is moving normally. If you look at the West views, well, it's a different story entirely.

The reason for all this is that last weekend, the day after you left for Madison, there was a large rockfall in the pass, which killed three people. Naturally, they're being careful as they work on reducing the chances for any further rockfalls.

The recommended alternatives are 410, which takes you by Mount Rainier, and 2, which takes you by Everett. My recollection is that they're both pretty, and both slow. By the time you guys are here, 90 might be the best choice again.

I'll try to remember that. I think I heard something about that pass, slide, too.

We're in Miles City, MT. I think we'll be in Seattle sometime Monday. Maybe we'll plan on another day.

Thanks!

Yay for Hounds of Love mentions!

Did you know the elusive Ms. Kate Bush finally has a new album due out? It's only been 12 years. I'm sure you'll get to Seattle much quicker than that. ;) Hope the driving went smoothly!

I think I read this in your journal, in fact. And it crossed my mind while we were listening to it. Yeah!
