Time bankruptcy (n.) -- when the amount of unread books, unwatched DVDs, unfinished projects, etc. that you own would require more time than the whole of the rest of your expected life.

(stolen from [livejournal.com profile] bohemiancoast in [livejournal.com profile] pnh)

Looks at shelves of unread books, looks at GreenCine queue...

I'm there, I think.

Hmmm...while I understand the concept (it would probably take a good 2 months just to get through what I have checked out from the library at this moment), I think there must be a more positive spin to take on this. The truth of the matter is that there has always been more of the world than we could individually experience, we just weren't so aware of it before.

I think one does have a choice...between overwhelming disappointment that over what you can't do right now, and might never be able to finish...or resounding joy over where you are right now and what you are doing, and the experiences that have built your life to this splendid moment.

Control of our mental landscape is in perception. How can we perceive this as bounty, not bankruptcy? In the labeling, I think. So instead of time bankruptcy, how about experiential bounty?
